Rock Reamer / Hole Opener Introduction
Horizontal Hole Openers, also known as HDD Reamers, are used to enlarge the pilot hole in Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) - HDD is used when trenching and excavating is not practical. This drilling technology allows for a steerable trenchless way to drill underground.There are three stages, the first stage is to drill a small
diameter pilot hole. The second stage is enlarge the hole with a larger diameter cutting tool called an HDD
Reamer, Rock Reamer or Hole Opener. The third stage is inserting the casing pipe or other product
into the enlarged hole.

• All our hole openers and rock reamers can be supplied with a widerange of cutters to deal withsoft rock
like limestone or sandstone, rignt up to hard formation bits capable of drilling in Granite and Basalt.
• Correct cutter selection allows higher productivity and tool life. The nozzles can be designed according
to different reamer size on different drilling conditions
• Our rock reamer can be custom build with 3, 4, 5, or more rollers, depend on your pullback power and
the diameter of the pipe. Our hole openers are generally fitted with API threads, IF, FH, etc.
